Akali Dal, ruling AAP blame each other for ‘ruining’ Punjab

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday engaged in a sharp exchange of words, blaming each other for ‘ruining’ Punjab.

Taking a dig at AAP, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal said the State government has failed to perform on all fronts and Punjab has gone down in all spheres. He also blamed the previous Congress government for ruining the State. Mr. Badal said the Congress and AAP made tall promises but failed to waive the debts of farmers or free the State of drug menace.

The SAD chief said several instances of sacrilege had occurred during AAP’s tenure in Punjab but the government had failed to nab the culprits.

Hitting back, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann alleged that SAD never raised Punjab-specific issues in Parliament ever despite seeking votes in the name of Panth (Sikh community). He was presiding over a function to mark the ‘Rakhar Puniya’ festival at Baba Bakala.
