As many as 2,395 students participated in a rally taken out in Tiruchi on Thursday to raise awareness of the upcoming diamond jubilee jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides to be held in the district.
School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi flagged off and took part in the rally which began at Anna Stadium. The participants marched through Jamal Mohamed College, TVS Tollgate, and returned to the starting point. They carried placards and banners highlighting the importance of the jamboree, environmental conservation and awareness. Collector M. Pradeep Kumar and other senior officials took part.
The event, named Kalaignar Centenary Special Jamboree, is scheduled to take place from January 28 to February 3 at SIPCOT industrial estate complex at Manapparai. Organised by the School Education Department, the jamboree is expected to draw over 20,000 people, including international students.
