The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) will set up a lab in Ezhukone providing medical laboratory services to the people at low cost.
“The facility will soon become operational,” said Kodikkunṇil Suresh, MP, after visiting the site on Thursday with officials concerned to assess the progress of construction.
The new state-of-the-art laboratory will be equipped with fully imported equipment. The facility is being constructed at a cost of approximately ₹6 crore. The service charges in this lab will be much lower compared to other labs. “The construction of the lab is expected to be completed within two months,” said the MP.
Collection centres
He added that a proposal had been submitted to start similar labs in Mavelikara in Alappuzha district and Changanassery in Kottayam district to ensure wider access to health-care services. “The plan is to also establish collection centres in various parts of the constituency. This will help extend health screening services to rural areas,” he said.
