Admissions and scholarships

Shiv Nadar University Chennai announced admissions for its Integrated Law Programme.

Eligibility: Students will be shortlisted for interviews on the basis of CLAT or, any major Law entrance exam (the list includes LNAT, AILET, SLAT, MH CET Law, TN LAWCET, AP LAWCET), or marks from class 10 and 12. Students can apply with class 10 score if class 12 score is not available during application.

Symbiosis International (Deemed University) (SIU) invites applications for its UG programmes through the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) and SIT Engineering Entrance Exam (SITEEE) 2025. The SET evaluates candidates on General English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and Analytical and Logical Reasoning. The SITEEE, tailored for Engineering aspirants, tests their proficiency in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths.

Eligibility: For SET 2025, applicants must have completed Class 12 from a recognised board with minimum 50%. For SITEEE 2025, candidates must have completed Class 12 from a recognised board with Physics and Maths as compulsory subjects along with either Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational subject, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, or Entrepreneurship.

The University of Sheffield, the U.K., invites applications for its MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation course starting this September.

The French Embassy in India and Campus France launched the second edition of Classes Internationales. It allows Indian students — beginners or advanced French learners — to access French-taught UG programmes after completing a foundational year of French language training and academic preparation.  

Eligibility: Admission is based on academic background and motivation, with no entrance exam.

Deadlines: March 31 for students with no prior knowledge of French; May 15 for students already proficient at the A2 level or higher.

DETermined scholarship

The Duolingo English Test has launched the DETermined scholarship.

Eligibility: Indian women with a DET score of 120, a strong academic record

Rewards: A one-time grant of $ 30,000 to cover tuition fees for a Master’s degree in STEM at a US university that accepts the DET for admissions.

GREAT Scholarships 2025

The British Council announced the GREAT Scholarships 2025, in partnership with the U.K. government’s GREAT Britain campaign. Scholarships are available across three categories — 21 scholarships for students pursuing diverse academic disciplines within core subjects; two scholarships for those undertaking PG studies in Justice and Law; three are available for aspiring leaders in Science and Technology, specifically within STEM disciplines. Events

The Indian School of Business (ISB) and the Veni Rao Foundation have partnered to launch the Veni Rao Tech for Social Good Challenge. Aimed at sparking innovative solutions to social challenges, its initial focus will be on digital health innovations. Also, Prof. Anjal Prakash, Clinical Associate Professor (Research) and Research Director, Bharti Institute of Public Policy, was selected as a lead author for the Special Report on Climate Change and Cities, a part of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) seventh assessment cycle.

Cambridge University Press is set to be part of the Government of India’s One Nation One Subscription initiative. It will expand access to its repository of journals, enabling the country’s academic community to leverage quality research and peer-reviewed articles.  

The Amazon Future Engineer programme has trained three million government school students and over 20,000 teachers across eight Indian states. It primarily targets students in classes 6 and above from tier-2 cities, and provides them with access to learning material in seven Indian languages. It is also is offering 500 merit-based scholarships worth Rs. 2 lakhs, to female students pursuing UG degrees in Computer Science Engineering or related fields.

Mohan Babu University celebrated its sports day. Students participated in a range of competitions including badminton, volleyball, cricket, athletics, and so on.

Venkateshwar International School made its debut on the TEDx platform with its event themed Voices, Vision, and Vistas. It featured different speakers including Capt. Jaison Thomas, Kargil hero turned educationist, Drisshya Duggal, a cyberpsychology evangelist, Tatsam Lamba, a debate coach, among others.

SAI International School hosted the fifth Edition of the SAI Global Debate recently, where over 300 students from 32 schools participated. 

During a seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Law, Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), launched a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) programme in Artificial Intelligence and Law programme. It will equip students with an understanding of AI technologies alongside core legal principles.

K J Somaiya Institute of Management hosted its annual multidisciplinary conference, Samavaya 2025. Its theme was Purpose-driven Leadership: Disruptions and Sustainability Imperatives. Over 60 research papers and 10 case studies were presented.

FLAME University, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research, hosted a national seminar on Shaping the Future: Trends and Perspectives in Indian Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development. Three panel discussions were held as a part of the seminar.

GD Goenka University hosted the Harvard Undergraduate Science Olympiad, in collaboration with Learn with Leaders. It aimed to provide middle-and-high-school students with an opportunity to engage in STEM education through a series of competitive and educational activities.

Parul University hosted the third Association of Indian Universities International Youth Festival 2024-25. Teams from 36 countries participated.

IIT Kanpur has developed a Brain-Computer Interface-based Robotic Hand Exoskeleton to transform stroke rehabilitation and redefine post-stroke therapy. The researcher was Prof. Ashish Dutta from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kanpur, supported by Department of Science and Technology (DST), UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI), and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Also, the institute’s National Information Centre of Earthquake Engineering, conducted its 16th annual Inter-School Quiz Competition on Earthquake Safety, with Gwalior Glory High School emerging as the champions

Zamit conducted its ‘Learning Power’ workshops in schools across India and Nepa. Designed for class 6 students, they aimed at instilling critical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving skills.

In collaboration with the Madras Management Association, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, hosted the inaugural Dr. Bala V. Balachandran Memorial Lecture. Partha Sarathy Mohanram, John H. Watson Chair in Value Investing, University of Toronto, delivered a lecture on The Promise and Perils of AI, delving into the potential and inherent challenges of AI in today’s business landscape.

IIT Guwahati’s School of Agro and Rural Technology inaugurated the Tree-Based Enterprise Incubation Center (TBEIC) under the Tree Outside Forests in India (TOFI) initiative. It aims to foster sustainable, tree-based enterprises that contribute to India’s environmental, economic, and rural development goals. Also, it hosted the PanIIT World of Technology (PIWOT) Meet 2025, showcasing solutions addressing real-world challenges, with a special emphasis on uplifting rural communities. It was organised in collaboration with the WHEELS Global Foundation, a philanthropic initiative of IIT.

AASOKA hosted the EduConnect Gala 2025, in partnership with the Schools’ Association, Gorakhpur. It provided a platform for school leaders to exchange insights, share experiences, and explore fresh ideas to address challenges in education.

Awards and laurels

A class 9 student at Shiv Nadar School, Daksh Malik’s preliminary detection of an asteroid was officially confirmed by NASA as a Provisional Discovery of a Main Belt Asteroid.” It has been designated as “2023 OG40,” and Malik will get the opportunity of naming it.

Gopi Ananth from A.M. Jain College won two silver medals in the pair and fours events at the 81st ARAE-FEARA Rowing Championship held in Chennai.

Govind Ramuka, a class 12 student of Modern Public School, Delhi, secured a place in the final stage of the 28th National Youth Festival.

Vijaybhoomi University’s Kanyathon, an initiative focused on empowering women and promoting girl child education, bagged the Engagement and Impact Award from SPJIMR.

RR Kabel announced the winners of its Kabel Star Scholarship Programme 2024 in Delhi. Out of almost 1,000 scholarship winners from across the country, Delhi had the maximum numbers with 37 winners.

MoUs and partnerships

IIT Kanpur signed an MoU with the Kuppam Area Development Authority to make Kuppam, India’s first Net Zero constituency. The initiative will combine the adoption of renewable energy, energy-efficient systems, and more.

Macquarie University, Australia, and Manipal Academy of Higher Education, have entered into an agreement where students will benefit from a 2+2 articulation and credit recognition arrangement. They will complete the first two years of their B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering at MAHE, followed by two years at Macquarie University in Sydney to earn a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management Kolkata (EIILM-Kolkata), recently partnered with Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), of The City University of New York (CUNY), the U.S. It will allow EIILM-Kolkata students to enroll in BMCC courses as well as enhance opportunities for BMCC students to study abroad and participate in exchange programmes.

School of Design Thinking signed an MoU with ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu, to embed Design Thinking into the ecosystem of academic institutions. It aims to establish frameworks for cooperative institutional relations to promote collaboration in the Design Thinking application in different areas.

UFlex partnered with the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) Delhi to promote recycling, circular economy, and sustainability. As part of this collaboration, UFlex has set up the Ideation Zone on the IIP campus, which will serve as an interactive space for students, professionals, and the public to learn about sustainable practices.
