A Kerala delegation is attending the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos in Switzerland, seeking to attract investments.
The delegation, led by Industries Minister P. Rajeeve, is focusing on holding one-on-one meetings with potential investors in the 22 priority sectors identified for sustainable growth. “WEF is a great opportunity for us to meet all potential investors at a single point. Since the State of Kerala is going to host an Invest Kerala Global Summit at Kochi on February 21 and 22, we are organising several preparatory programmes and roadshows here. We also have a Kerala pavilion that showcases the State’s strengths. Invest India and the CII are facilitating these programmes,” Mr. Rajeeve told The Hindu from Davos.
He said the delegation was focusing on attracting investments linked to the Vizhinjam port, in the Palakkad industrial city and in the areas of information technology, manufacturing, shipping, logistics, pharmaceuticals, knowledge-based industries and food processing. “We have about 25 appointments lined up over the next four days. The idea is to invite potential investors in these sectors to the Invest Kerala summit so that Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) could be signed at Kochi,” a senior official part of the delegation said.
At Davos, the Minister will talk on ‘digital dividend: fusing technology, talent and a collaborative ecosystem in a multistakeholder world’ on January 22 and on the State’s potential to become a pharma and biotechnology hub a day later.
The Kerala delegation also includes the Chief Secretary, Finance Secretary, Industries Secretary and Managing Director and Executive Director of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC).
