Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan emphasised the importance of constant innovation for individuals and institutions to thrive in a rapidly changing world. He was speaking at the inauguration of Taj Cochin International Airport, a five-star hotel built by Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) and operated by Indian Hotels Company Limited.
The Chief Minister highlighted the need to adapt to shifting trends in service delivery in the era of pervasive new media. “Providing quality services alone is insufficient, people must be convinced of their benefits,” he said.
The Chief Minister commended CIAL’s professional marketing strategies and its effective communication of the benefits of its initiatives. He cited the 0484 Aero Lounge, launched in September, as a testament to meticulous planning and market research, noting its success in promoting the ‘Art of Affordable Luxury.’
CIAL is the second airport in India to establish a hotel under this business model by leveraging its land for strategic ventures and was praised for its forward-thinking projects. These include the international terminal expansion, green hydrogen plant, commercial complex, and golf tourism, all aimed at sustainable development. Slated for completion by 2025-26, the initiatives are designed to boost regional connectivity and position CIAL as a gateway to the nation.
Minister for Industries P. Rajeeve presided over the event, while CIAL managing director S. Suhas delivered the welcome address. IHCL executive vice president Deepika Rao served as the chief guest.
