On November 26, Nukavarapu Raja Ramesh, Senior Interventional Cardiologist at Aster Ramesh Hospitals, presented a case of successfully performing aortic valve replacement for a patient with severe left ventricular dysfunction at the PCR London Valves conference held in London. His approach received widespread appreciation from the conference attendees, it said.
Pothineni Ramesh Babu, Chief Interventional Cardiologist at Aster Ramesh Hospitals, said they have successfully performed transcatheter valve replacement procedures for over 30 patients till date with aortic or mitral valve conditions, without requiring traditional open-heart surgery.
He highlighted that heart valve replacement procedures are among the most complex procedures in interventional cardiology. However, advanced medical technology and artificial intelligence, precise customisation of valve size and shape has helped in mitigating risks like coronary artery blockage.
