The body of the CPI district secretary, Potu Prasad (64) who died of heart attack in Khammam on Wednesday (November 28, 2024), was donated to Mamata Medical College in Khammam for medical research purposes on Friday. Slogans of ‘Lal Salaam’ rent the air during a procession held in memory of the departed leader earlier in the day.
Earlier, scores of people from various walks of life including a host of leaders cutting across the political spectrum paid their last respects to the departed leader at the CPI district office in Khammam.
Mr. Prasad hailed from Rangapuram village in Garidepally mandal of Nalgonda district. His grandmother Yerramma and father Raghavaiah were prominent Communist leaders of their era.
Speakers at a condolence meeting held in Giri Prasad Bhavan termed the departed leader as a champion of the working class and toiling masses.
CPI State secretary and Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, CPI (M) State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, BRS leader and former minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar among others spoke. They paid glowing tributes to the departed Communist leader.
