The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the layout plan for the Sannidhanan-Pampa trekking route. The government will execute the plan in three phases, commencing 2028.
The plan divides the Sannidhanam area into eight zones. It effectively manages crowds, including accommodating them in open plazas, to prevent stampedes, especially during Makaravilakku.
The route will have a demarcated road for the movement of emergency vehicles, and rest stops for devotees. The layout plan emphasises environmental protection and forest conservation. Forested buffer zones will abut the trekking route on either side.
LSGI Commission
The Cabinet has allocated an estimated ₹850 crore in three phases for the master plan and ₹255 crore for Pampa development.
The government also constituted a commission to reform and modernise local body rules and norms to usher in an era of ease of doing business, speedy development and enhanced public service delivery. B Asok will head the LSGI Reforms Commission.
Ex-gratia payment
The Cabinet announced an ex gratia payment of ₹two lakh each to the families of four students who were killed after they were caught under a truck which turned turtle at Panayam Padam on the Palakkad-Kozhiode national highway last month.
The government also declared an ex gratia payment of ₹2 lakh for the bereaved families of pavement sleepers who were fatally run over by a truck on the Thrissur-Nattika National Highway last month.
The Cabinet has given administrative sanction to the Graphene Arora scheme to promote entrepreneurial ventures in new materials.
It also created 85 new news posts in the Police department.
