Growth in the industrial, agriculture, and tourism sectors will help drive growth in the real estate sector too, says Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Mr. Naidu was speaking after inaugurating the three-day NAREDCO Property Show in Guntur on January 10, 2025 (Friday).
Expressing his strong will to rebuild the State and revitalise the construction and real estate sectors under the ‘Build AP’ initiative, Mr. Naidu highlighted the importance of the real estate sector in giving a leg-up to the State’s economy.
Lashing out at the former Chief Minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, for his “destructive governance” that left the construction sector in a disarray, Mr. Naidu pledged to resolve the issues confronting the sector on a war-footing, support developers, and ensure seamless execution of projects. “Real estate prosperity creates wealth. Our goal is to rebuild Andhra Pradesh and make it a thriving State,” he said.
To address shortage of resources, he said the government introduced the free sand policy. “People have the right to demand access to sand,” he added. The government also simplified the building regulations to expedite approvals, he added.
“The government will launch a dashboard in two months to address grievances and streamline permissions. Strict measures will continue to be taken against illegal sand transportation and misuse of TDR bonds,” the Chief Minister warned.
Amaravati revival
The NDA government would complete the 183-km Outer Ring Road (ORR) around the Amaravati capital city, which would ensure seamless connectivity to Guntur. Revival of Amaravati with an investment of ₹50,000 crore to make it a model city was another major development, Mr. Naidu observed.
As far as the energy requirement was concerned, he said the government was striving to make Andhra Pradesh a green hydrogen hub.
“The State aims at attracting ₹4 lakh crore investments in seven months, creating four lakh jobs,” he said, and hoped the target of generating 20 lakh jobs in five years would be achieved as promised during the general elections.
Exhorting the construction sector to embrace innovation, he said, “Builders who earned ₹500 earlier can now earn ₹1,500 with the new policies.” Referring to the unauthorised constructions, he warned of strict action against such malpractices.
‘A benchmark for urban development’
Underlining the uniqueness of Amaravati, he said “it is a future benchmark for urban development in India.”
“We will develop not just Amaravati, but cities such as Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Nellore, Kurnool, and Tirupati to compete on the global stage,” the Chief Minister said.
Mr. Naidu reaffirmed his administration’s focus on sustainable development, good governance, and building Andhra Pradesh as a model State. “Forget the past and move forward with confidence,” he exhorted.
