The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) spokesperson Putta Sivashankar has questioned the credibility of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s repeated claims of bringing massive investments to Andhra Pradesh during his tenure from 2014 to 2019. Highlighting the lack of tangible outcomes, Mr. Sivashankar pointed out that despite four visits to Davos during that period, no significant industrial progress was achieved.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, he alleged that the baseless promises amplified by the “yellow media,” which boasted about investments from global giants such as Alibaba, Airbus, and Saudi Aramco, as well as the establishment of a high-speed rail factory and $20 billion investments from Kumiyumi Group. Additionally, projects like Microsoft’s Hybrid Cloud, Hero Honda, and Jindal factories in Prakasam district were heavily publicised. However, none of these companies materialised, leaving the State without the promised benefits, Mr. Sivashankar alleged.
In contrast, former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s silent and focussed approach has delivered measurable results. Without unnecessary media hype, Mr. Jagan’s visit to Davos resulted in agreements like the Adani Group’s Green Energy plant and Greenko’s project near Orvakal, both of which are progressing rapidly. Under his leadership, investments worth ₹1.26 lakh crores have been secured, many of which have already begun production. Even JSP president Pawan Kalyan has acknowledged these achievements, Mr. Sivashankar added.
