Minister for Higher Education R. Bindu on Friday unveiled the logo for the two-day International Higher Education Conclave, organised jointly by the Department of Higher Education and the State Higher Education Council.
The conclave, titled ‘Shaping Kerala’s Future: International Conclave on Next-Gen Higher Education,’ will take place on January 14-15, 2025, at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). The tagine for the event is “Towards A New Episteme.”
As the State undergoes significant changes in the field of higher education, the conclave will explore current challenges and opportunities. The conclave marks the continuation of comprehensive reforms in the State’s higher education sector, said the Minister.
“The reforms include the introduction of a four-year undergraduate programme, the K-REAP (Kerala Resources for Education Administration and Planning ) initiative for smooth academic and administrative processes in colleges and universities, the establishment of seven Centres of Excellence in various fields, Kerala Institutional Ranking Framework, Brain Gain programme, Study in Kerala initiative, State Accreditation and Assessment Centre, the Chief Minister’s New Kerala Post-Doctoral Fellowship, Kairali Research Awards, Higher Education Scholarship programme, and the Centre for Skill Development Courses and Career Planning,” she pointed out.
Topics for discussion at the conclave will include the integration of artificial intelligence in higher education, economic sustainability, internationalisation, research excellence, incorporating sustainable development into curricula, aligning higher education with future job opportunities, and the transformation of campus student unions to ensure inclusivity and democracy.
The international conclave will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on January 14, 2025, with Dr. R. Bindu presiding over the event. Renowned figures from education and social sectors, including Nobel laureates, will participate in the event. The event will feature numerous workshops, plenary sessions, and parallel discussions.
The logo symbolises innovations in higher education and academic collaboration, integrating modern technology, global interconnectedness, and academic symbols. The logo was designed by Ansar Mangalathoppu, Head of the Applied Arts Department at the Fine Arts College, Thiruvananthapuram.
