Govt. school kids’ innovative projects displayed at TiE Global Summit

Vikasa Parva, an entrepreneurship and design thinking workshop led by Excel Public School and Excelsoft Technologies, aided 36 government schools from the Mysuru district to craft innovative projects and present them at the TiE Global Summit in Bengaluru recently. The six-week workshop saw participation from 186 students and 36 teachers from the government schools.

The workshop was funded by Excel Group’s CSR arm – The Excel Empathy Foundation.

The students and teachers were introduced to areas like innovation, research and development, product development, engineering design process, and entrepreneurship, enabling them to identify solutions for local problems using the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework.

All 186 students were invited to attend TGS’s signature event ‘Firestarters Gang: TYECON-TGS2024’.

The top 10 projects in healthcare, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, sustainable development, and environmental conservation, were presented at the ‘Rural Youth Innovators: What is an Innovation Mindset?’ session alongside innovative projects from other districts. This was an exclusive session for young creative minds from rural areas to showcase their innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit, a press release said.

The event concluded at the Infosys campus in Mysuru. The top 10 teams, accompanied by their teachers and mentors, participated in insightful sessions that highlighted Mysuru’s rich heritage and cultural entrepreneurship. The sessions featured talks and panel discussions led by leaders from industries such as tourism, jewelry, wellness, and adventure.

Mr. Mathew K.G., principal, Excel Public School, expressed pride in the students’ achievements stating, “Our Vikasa Parva initiative has not only helped the students to showcase their creativity but also their ability to address real-world challenges with practical and scalable solutions.”

Following their success at TGS 2024, all 36 projects have been submitted for the School Innovation Marathon 2024, India’s largest school innovation challenge organised by the Ministry of Education, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), encouraging students to identify community problems and develop innovative and practical solutions.
